Lady Bird

As a blogger, it's our personal responsibility to hold ourselves to a higher standard. In an effort to practice what I've been preaching, I'm going the extra mile. I've been deleting every single bookmarked shopping website and saving only those with ethically sourced materials and/or made in the USA/Nashville, Tennessee. There's a giant folder of my favorite Nashville designers and boutiques, but sometimes, you just need a simple white button-down. I want to make sure I'll be purchasing a shirt that's made ethically and lacks any resemblance of poor fast fashion.

As I take these steps, I realize I can't just start fresh and donate all my old clothes. That only adds to the problem of waste. From now on, I'll be sure to mark an un-ethically sourced item in my source line at the bottom of each post, stating when it was purchased. In the meantime, I will begin to transform my closet. Slowly but surely over the next year, my daily wear will completely transform to a locally-sourced and ethically-sourced wardrobe. Are you pushing your industry in a positive forward motion?

#WhyNFW 2016: Fashion Forward Fund Gala

This year's Nashville Fashion Week was absolutely wonderful. The credit must be given to all of the dedicated staff, designers, retailers, volunteers, photographers, videographers, models, hair & makeup artists, event planners, writers, bloggers, stylists, directors and producers who made this week possible. Thank you to everyone I partnered with who made each night so very special. I'm so humbled by all the readers and followers who I had the chance to meet. Thank you so much for your support. I've got heart eyes for you, Nashville! Heart eyes!

Tonight's gala will take place at OZ Arts Nashville and feature Mayor Megan Barry, singer-songwriter Holly Williams, and designer Julianna Bass. I'm so excited to be wearing this gorgeous sequined jumpsuit from The Showroom Nashville with mirrored belt. The Showroom is my favorite place to grab a statement piece for formal events. All rentable, all affordable! I topped off this look with simple sandals and a mirrored sequin bag from Stacey Rhodes Boutique.

#WhyNFW 2016: Education Panels

Today, Nashville Fashion Week is presenting the 2016 Education Panels, "The Business of Fashion: The Process, Progress & Pivot." The panels will be hosted at Nashville's City Winery and will discuss how to launch/grow a business or fashion concept, how to adapt in a tech-forward world of communication, and how to re-brand or change directions after already being well-established.

I'm proud to have been the Event Coordinator for this year's panels featuring speakers Gavin Ivester, Julianna Bass, Manuel Cuevas, Lagi Nadeau, Dawn Robertson, and many others. Click here to learn about all of the 2016 moderators and speakers. I'm also very proud to be wearing a dress by Elizabeth Suzann, topped off with local accessories from Nisolo and Branded Collective.

#WhyNFW 2016: City Lights - Ready-to-Wear Runway Show

This week just keeps getting better and better! What a joy it's been to watch our city come together and connect over the beauty of fashion. You know tonight's Ready-to-Wear Runway Show is going to be epic, and I can't wait to see everyone's beautiful faces. How did this week go by so fast? The fourth night of Nashville Fashion Week will be at the Legislative Plaza. Designers will include Lagi Nadeau, Megan Huntz, Oberima Afriyie, Eleventy and Julianna Bass.

I am overjoyed about tonight. For the second year in a row, I'll be wearing a rhinestone duster from one of my favorite legendary designers...Manuel. It's such an honor to represent him and his remarkable career for the final night of runway shows for 2016's Nashville Fashion Week. I'm so thankful for Manuel and his team's generosity and support over the years. I topped off this look with a simple nude bag from Stacey Rhodes Boutique and a slinky suede midi dress.
